October is breast cancer awareness month, and City Furniture is more determined than ever to help lead the fight for a cure. A longtime supporter of the cause, we’re turning the pink up a notch in honor of Doreen Koenig, late wife of CEO and President Keith Koenig, and all those affected by breast cancer.
Starting with dressing the part, departments throughout the company are getting outfitted in pink apparel, including ties and scarves for sales associates and pink polos for our service technicians. We’re also encouraging the rest of the company to wear pink on October 20, called “Doreen Day” in honor of Doreen’s birthday.
Naturally, we wanted to bring the pink to our customers as well, so our merchandising team joined forces with Kevin Charles Fine Upholstery to design custom pink accent pillows—with proceeds going toward the American Cancer Society. And while you’re in the showroom, look out for the pink pumpkin display. Guests are encouraged to take one for the kids’ trick-or-treating, and leave behind a donation if you wish.
Back at the office, each department is hosting various raffles and fundraisers, with proceeds benefitting the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on October 29. Taking place at the Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale, everyone is invited to help this year’s walk have the biggest turnout and most funds raised to date. Together, we can win the fight! Every effort, every step, every dime donated helps to make a difference.
